UNITED STATES: A WEATHER PRESENTER VICTIM OF REVENGE PORN SACKED BY HIS TELEVISION CHANNEL

Erick Adame was a victim of revenge porn for several months. The television channel that received the compromising photos decided to fire the weather presenter.

Erick Adame, weather presenter for Spectrum News NY1 in the United States, has been the victim of revenge porn. To the point of losing his job in the prestigious New York chain.

It all starts at the beginning of the year, when Erick Adame realizes that several photos have been stolen from him on an adult webcam site. “On this site, I staged my compulsive behaviors, at home, playing in front of the camera for other men,” he says on an Instagram post .

"It was absurd to think that I could keep this a secret," he adds today. Because in March, several of these photos are sent to his employer. Packages with photos are sent anonymously to his superiors. Same thing with the mother of the daily weather presenter. This summer, Spectrum News receives new photos.

“I have certain responsibilities”

Last week, during the last send of these compromising images, the New York chain decided to dismiss him. "I had the dream job and I lost it because of my own lack of judgment", he regrets today.

Following this dismissal, Erick Adame tells his story on Instagram which collects more than 14,000 reactions. "I apologize to the employees of the chain, my colleges, my audience, my family and my friends," he confides. Big Apple stars then mobilized to defend the presenter, according to the New York Times .

Filed a complaint

Sex and the City actress Cynhia Nixon lent her support as did Congresswoman Yuh-Line Niou and New York City Council member Erik Bottcher. This episode opened the debate on the surveillance of employers over employees. In addition, the weather presenter said he was seeking "psychiatric treatment" for a "compulsive behavior" that prompted him to produce these photos.
