United States: Joe Biden does not rule out running again in 2024

In an interview broadcast on Sunday evening by the American channel CBS, American President Joe Biden assured that no "final decision" had been made on his political future, while adding that he had, for the moment, the intention to represent themselves.

Less than two months before the mid-term elections , US President Joe Biden multiplied his statements during an interview broadcast Sunday evening on the CBS channel. The head of state for the first time let it be known that he had not decided whether or not he intended to run for president in 2024.  “Is it a final decision that I will run again? That remains to be seen ,” he said, adding that this was his “intention” for now. During his interview, the tenant of the White House wanted to answer those who doubt the capacity of the almost octogenarian to govern:  “Look at me”, launched with a smile the American president who will celebrate his 80th birthday on November 20th.

Fifty days before the mid-term elections, during which the control of the Senate and the House of Representatives is at stake, Joe Biden sought to improve the American health situation by affirming in particular that the Covid-19 pandemic was  "finished" in the United States. "  If you look around, no one is wearing a mask, and everyone looks pretty good," he said.

Biden warns Beijing

On the inflation front, the main angle of attack for the Republican opposition, Joe Biden also wanted to be confident. “We will bring inflation under control ,” he promised. On the international level, the president warned Beijing that the "Americans would defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion" . Joe Biden also said he warned his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping of the risk of investors fleeing if Beijing violated the sanctions imposed on Russia because of its invasion of Ukraine.

The 46th President of the United States has also renewed his warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the use of chemical or nuclear weapons in Ukraine, at a time when the Ukrainian army is leading a major counter-offensive in the country. "It would change the course of the war in a way not seen since World War II ," he warned, promising a "substantial" response  from the United States if this step were to be taken.

President Biden told 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley last Thursday that while he intends to run for reelection in 2024, the decision is still up in the air.

"Sir, are you committed to running again, or are there certain conditions that have to be right?" Pelley asked.

"Look, if I were to say to you, I'm running again, all of a sudden, a whole range of things come into play that I have-- requirements I have to change and move and do," Mr. Biden said. "In terms of election laws. and it's much too early to make that kind of decision. I'm a great respecter of fate. And so, what I'm doing is I'm doing my job. I'm gonna do that job. And within the timeframe that makes sense after this next election cycle here, going into next year, make a judgment on what to do."

"You say that it's much too early to make that decision," Pelley said. "I take it the decision has not been made in your own head?"

"Look, my intention as I said to begin with is that I would run again," the president said. "But it's just an intention. But is it a firm decision that I run again? That remains to be seen."

President Biden said he hopes to retain control of the House and the Senate in the midterm election in November. But less than half the country approves of the job he's done. Pelley asked Biden why he thinks his numbers are so low despite a string of recent legislative success.

"This is a really difficult time. We're at an inflection point in the history of this country," Mr. Biden said. "We're gonna make decisions, and we're making decisions now, that are gonna determine what we're gonna look like the next ten years from now. I think you'd agree that the impact on the psyche of the American people as a consequence of the pandemic is profound.

Think of how that has changed everything. You know, people's attitudes about themselves, their families, about the state of the nation, about the state of their communities. And so there's a lot of uncertainty out there, a great deal of uncertainty. And we lost a million people.

A million people to COVID. When I got in office, when I got elected, only 2 million people had been vaccinated. I got 220 million, my point is it takes time. We were left in a very difficult situation. it's been a very difficult time. Very difficult."

President Biden is the oldest commander-in-chief in the history of the country. With that in mind, Pelley asked him about his fitness for the job.

"Watch me. And honest to God, that's all I think. Watch me," Mr. Biden said. "If you think I don't have the energy level or the mental acuity, then, you know, that's one thing. It's another thing, you just watch and, you know, keep my schedule. Do what I'm doing. I think that, you know, I don't-- when I sit down with our NATO allies and keep them together, I don't have them saying, 'Wait a minute, how-- how old are you?'"

At least four dead in Tulsa hospital

At least four people died on Wednesday after a man opened fire at a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the southern United States. The shooter allegedly killed himself. “Officers are currently checking every room in the building for any threats,” police said earlier this evening. Although the identity of the killer has not been confirmed, it is thought to be a man between 35 and 40 years old, said Mr Brooks. The suspect was in possession of two firearms at the time of the shooting. “The shooter is dead. We believe he committed suicide,” the deputy chief added. It was while reading the news that she learned that an active shooter was at Saint Francis Hospital. “I went there to see a doctor two months ago. This hospital was one of the safest places in the world. I guess that's not the case anymore,” she blurts out. https://www.youonline.online/post/1122587_25-funny-moments-in-epl-season-2-watch-here-amazing-amp-hilarious-scenes-enjoy-it-funny-moments-in-epl-season-2-with-your-family-or-
