Olympique Lyonnais: who are the three American candidates in the running for the purchase of 40% of the capital

Jean-Michel Aulas announced on Thursday June 9 that he intended to conclude discussions on a buyout of a share in the capital of OL Groupe by June 23. They are three in the lead, starting with Foster Gillet.

Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed this Thursday, June 9 in the morning during a press conference on the occasion of the presentation of rookie Alexandre Lacazette, back at OL after five years at Arsenal. Discussions on a buyout of a share in the capital of OL Groupe, which could lead to a takeover of the club by a new investor, should be concluded by Thursday June 23. 

"There is a process that is underway. There is no certainty about the discussions held," said the 73-year-old Lyon president. In all likelihood, it is an American who should buy 40% of the capital, and they are three in the lead, starting with Foster Gillet . This 45-year-old man, originally from Colorado, is the son of the former owner of Liverpool between 2007 and 2010. He could eventually invest some 600 million euros.

Another serious suitor, an American pension fund close to the middle of basketball and the NBA, particularly interested in the presence of  Tony Parker  within the club. Finally, there is the billionaire John Textor , in the running to acquire two European clubs, Olympique Lyonnais and FC Porto, in Portugal.
