Coronavirus: American experts recommend vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer for children

Experts have authorized Moderna and Pfizer vaccines from 6 months of age.

This was the last age group not yet to have access to this protection. In two votes, the 21 experts unanimously felt that the benefits of vaccinating toddlers with  Moderna  and  Pfizer  outweighed the risks.

Jay Portnoy, one of the committee members said: "I know that many very relieved parents are certainly listening to us today." The United States Medicines Agency , whose decisions are referenced around the world, must now give its official authorization .

Ten million doses will be immediately sent to the country, before millions in the coming weeks, the US government said . Injections could begin as early as next Tuesday , once the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also gives the go-ahead.
