Chinese foreign minister visits India for the first time after border conflict

China's foreign minister traveled to India on Friday, official sources said, in his first visit since the deadly clash between the troops of the two Asian powers on the Himalayan border in 2020.

Wang Yi, who on Thursday made his first visit to Afghanistan since the Taliban took power in the country, is scheduled to meet Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi.

In June 2020, clashes on the disputed Himalayan border ended with the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers and four Chinese soldiers. The violence worsened relations between the countries, which reinforced the military presence in the region.
