Bernard Madoff: could the stolen money be returned to its rich victims?

Bernard Madoff knew how to do it, but it was all an illusion. He knew it all along, one day it would all come crashing down. Slowly, but surely, the house of cards is collapsing before his eyes.

It took years for Bernard Madoff to build his empire, to find his place in this merciless world of finance. He had even ended up becoming one of its kings, one of its magicians, respected, adored, and even desired.

Bernard Madoff  knew how to do it, but it was all an illusion. He knew from the beginning that one day everything would come crashing down. Slowly, but surely, the meticulously constructed house of cards crumbles before his eyes. He had built a huge Ponzi pyramid, the checks given to him by his clients, he cashed them in his account, instead of investing them, and each new client was used to repay the previous one , and so on.

But unfortunately for  Bernard Madoff,  the financial crisis broke out after the collapse of the bank Lehman Brothers. One after another, customers start demanding their money back, only to have nothing left. Everything has disappeared. The amount of the slate is colossal: 65 billion dollars. On December 11, 2008, Bernard Madoff was arrested, and the biggest financial scam of the century was brought to light.
