Rui Costa defends term limitation at Benfica

Candidate for president of the Luz club has promised not to allow the emblem of Luz to face any more lawsuits in court.

The president of Benfica and candidate for the next elections, Rui Costa, defended this Monday the limitation of terms at the club and assured that, if elected, he will not allow the emblem of Luz to face any further lawsuits.

A few days before the scrutiny, scheduled for Saturday, Rui Costa assured, in an interview with BTV, that a review of the club's statutes "will be carried out" to "meet the interests" of the Benfica members.

"I agree with the term limitation. That a revision of the bylaws be carried out, to meet the interests of our partners. It will be done. I don't think it is urgent, but soon I want to take this issue and create one commission to review the statutes. I think three terms of four years would be ideal," said Rui Costa, 49 years old.

The former vice-president assumed the presidency of Benfica in July, following the resignation of Luís Filipe Vieira, who was appointed as a defendant in the 'red card' investigation, on suspicion of various economic and financial crimes.

Rui Costa refused to be an "accomplice" of anyone and said he could not assume responsibility for something he was not involved in: "I will always assume my responsibilities with regard to my portfolios. In the others, I cannot. No one has been accused of doing it. nothing yet and we have to wait and see how the processes unfold. I can't take responsibility for something I haven't been close to."

Even so, the former footballer stressed that, if he wins Saturday's elections, in which he will face the competition of Francisco Benítez, he will not allow Benfica to be in the news again for the worst reasons.

"If elected, I won't allow Benfica to have more lawsuits of that order. I don't want paragons of lawsuits and bad news for our club. or the other person who will be in my place" , he stressed.

Moreover, during the interview, he revealed that "a forensic audit is being carried out on all processes [associated with Benfica] that are in progress", the results of which will be known "by the end of October".

On the other hand, he assumed the will to keep Domingos Soares de Oliveira in the administration of SAD, although noting that the decision will have to be joint.

"There has been a lot of talk about Domingos Soares de Oliveira and our relationship. There are things that need to be changed, that need to be improved, but there are many things that were done well at the club. He is a person who has contributed, a lot, to that the club had positive results in recent years, with the exception of the last one. Things don't just depend on me, but, if it does, it will continue," he said.

While assuring that "the SAD will always belong to the club and the club will always belong to the members", Rui Costa expressed his availability to "talk to all investors that appear to invest in the club", including the American John Textor.

At least four dead in Tulsa hospital

At least four people died on Wednesday after a man opened fire at a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the southern United States. The shooter allegedly killed himself. “Officers are currently checking every room in the building for any threats,” police said earlier this evening. Although the identity of the killer has not been confirmed, it is thought to be a man between 35 and 40 years old, said Mr Brooks. The suspect was in possession of two firearms at the time of the shooting. “The shooter is dead. We believe he committed suicide,” the deputy chief added. It was while reading the news that she learned that an active shooter was at Saint Francis Hospital. “I went there to see a doctor two months ago. This hospital was one of the safest places in the world. I guess that's not the case anymore,” she blurts out. https://www.youonline.online/post/1122587_25-funny-moments-in-epl-season-2-watch-here-amazing-amp-hilarious-scenes-enjoy-it-funny-moments-in-epl-season-2-with-your-family-or-
